This is a gorgeous Canton silk shawl, beautifully embroidered with a Chinese woman and man amidst a floral design in an art deco influenced style. The piece is trimmed with a lace and knotted border and fringe. Most likely 1920s, possibly 1930. You can imagine a flapper wearing this – note the 20s era appearance

The colours of the hand-embroidery are still vibrant with no fading at all, and exceptional really considering its age. The only aspects to note are that there are a very few broken threads to the embroidery and some tiny tiny marks, but not many at all, and nothing really for an item of this vintage.
