An interesting 18 century silk covered French container which was to serve as a sifter of sorts, there is a linen or cotton net at the top, photo 4. The container measures approx. 5 1/2″ x 2 3/4″. It seems to be paper covered with silk moire on the sides and embroidered with silk bees.
